From May to November 2025, Build4Sustainability Mumbai collaborated with OMOTEC to develop an innovative electrostatic precipitator (ESP) mat with high particulate matter capture efficiency, targeting fine particulate emissions while simultaneously reducing energy consumption. Designed for deployment at construction sites, the ESP mat helps reduce the dispersal of airborne particulate matter that adversely affects urban air quality and community health. The invention was developed through the findings of the research project, which demonstrated that electrostatic precipitation achieved significantly higher PM2.5 removal over shorter periods than plant-based alternatives.
In January 2026, following the successful completion of the I4S – Invention for Sustainability, Build4Sustainability Mumbai collaborated with AP Realty to distribute ESP mats across the company's construction sites in Mumbai. This initiative marked an important step in translating research and innovation into real-world impact by deploying particulate matter reduction technology directly at construction sites, where it can help mitigate emissions at their source.
